Sleeping In

Its small
But its clean..

This little room we've made home
For a time..

The smell of the Mid West
Strong coffee
Drift up the stairway..

Morning sun..
Through lacey old curtains..
Bathe her sleeping face..

She is smiling..
So beautiful in her dream..

Slowly..
I slip from her hold on me..

I kiss her hand
Stroke her cheek softly..

Cute little frown..
As she realizes Ive moved away

To watch her..

Glistening brown orbs open..
For a moment..
She shocks me with how lovely
She can be at this hour..

Soft little murmurs
Correcting me..
Ive taken my warmth from her..

She wriggles close to me again
Nuzzling me..
Her grip tighter this time..

She wont be deprived
Her favorite habit..
I am powerless..

I kiss her forehead lightly
Take her hand for good measure
Holding it close to me..

Close my eyes
I tell her I love her..
She kisses me
Contented..

No rush today
We're sleeping in...
